Marc Berhendt and Teresa Franklin of the Ohio University in their research paper titled ‘A Review of Research on School Field Trips and Their Value in Education’ have mentioned about experiential learning at formal and informal field trip. It increases student interest, knowledge, and motivation. Experiential learning is genuine and sensory-based learning. Experiential activities let’s students to explore, touch, listen to, watch, move things, dissemble and reassemble.

According to a blog ‘Explorable Places’ a field trip is one of the best tools that one can use to provide every student with real-world experiences. Whether that's a trip to the local grocery store, waterfront park, a library, a museum, a theatre, a community garden or a restaurant, each experience that a student participates in contributes their understanding of the world. When students leave the classroom, they see the connections between what is happening at school and in the ‘real-world’.

Practical experience is more important because students start experiencing whatever a teacher teaches in class. They begin to see that what they learn within the walls of the classroom can help them solve the problems they see in the world around them and can have a direct impact on who they become as people. A field trip can also teach you what happens on the field which is very important for creative people. What you do in the classroom in college is not necessarily what happens in the field.

School of Communications, XIM University recognizes this and organizes field trips to different places and media houses. It helps students to mind storm with ideas, come up with something new stuff every day, polish their skills, interact with new people, compete with them to improve further etc.
