Freddy is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language psychological thriller film. The director astonished his audience by releasing Freddy, his latest movie, on Disney Plus Hotstar. The female lead was performed by Alaya Fand the male lead character was Kartik Aaryan. It was found that there was a situation both the lead characters had to take their role seriously. Kartik Aaryan is getting better in his acting career and there are a few times when he truly gives us the chills to the audience.

Freddy Ginwala (Karthik Aaryan), who is battling the demons of a disturbing childhood memory, stumbles at the sight of young females. An introverted Kainaz (Alaya F) is spotted at a party by an introverted dental surgeon who is being driven by a matronly aunt. The dental surgeon immediately falls in love with Kainaz's charm and demure demeanor. Freddy finally receives the female attention he has been seeking, but his happiness is fleeting since we quickly learn that the submissive doctor has been mistreated in love.

Freddy enjoys painting model aeroplanes, which shows he isn't a man who is eager to mature. He receives a rebuke from an aunt: "You are no longer a bachcha." The matronly warning is for years who are deaf. She encourages him to end his single status by finding a girlfriend. The guy tries, but he is so dreadfully uncomfortable around ladies that he always manages to say or do the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Being a man as socially uncomfortable as Dr Freddy Ginwala must not be simple. He is a lonesome man who cannot make anyone eat from the palm of his hand. He meets several potential life mates in his ongoing and fruitless search for a soul mate on a matrimonial website. The movie begins with one such awkward date. He completely botches every interaction that he practises in front of his mirror.

Director Shashanka Ghosh gets a chance to shift gears as a result of the rejection and its reason for moving something inside the brittle Freddy. Up until that point, Hardy, Freddy's tortoise friend, set the pace for the movie.

Kartik gets lots of screen time merely to build a relationship with the viewer in his new, reclusive avatar, suggesting that the producers are eager to offer him the chance to experiment with characters outside his cheery boy-next-door image. He has previously attempted to act clumsily in Love Aaj Kal, but it backfired and didn’t do well. The discomfort and disappointment in this scenario encourage the doctor's sinister side and provide Kartik with the chance to embody both Jekyll and Hyde. The actor is improving with each movie, and it is obvious that he has improved his body language, eye contact, and body weight to play Freddy, but the makeover rarely stirs anything inside of us.

He asks women out on dates often but always gets turned down. Hardy, his pet turtle, is his only companion; he also spends his free time building model airplanes. When Freddy spots. Kainaaz approaches her awkwardly to strike up a conversation, but Rustom, who was in charge of the wedding's cuisine, pushes him away. The following day, Kainaaz joins Freddyat his clinic.  And then eventually a budding love story begins. But the twist happens when he hurts Kainaaz because of his mental disabilities.

The film's production design is attractive and accurately captures the melancholy mood of the story. Both Clinton Cerejo's background music and Ayananka Bose's cinematography are excellent. The first hour's editing may have been improved. The quality of the production is good. Shashanka Ghosh, the filmmaker, did a passable job with Freddy. Although his work is more significant to Plan A than Plan B, his previous release, remains unsatisfactory. There might be certain audience expectations when someone like Karthik Aaryan is involved, but the filmmaker doesn’t seem to care. He simply followed a formulaic plot with some interesting moments.

It’s encouraging to see that psychological crime thrillers are becoming one of the popular Hindi film genres. Kartik Aaryan's superb unsettling performance is the movie’s high point. As Freddy, a mistreated man obsessed with love, seething wrath, and yet calm as a cucumber, he is an astounding revelation. For the role of Freddy, the actor changed his weight, body language, gaze, and signature smile, and the efforts were successful. Thanks to Kartik and his psychopathic portrayal of the protagonist character, you'll think twice before visiting the dentist. Little is done by Alaya F to establish her presence.

Overall, Freddy is a merely passable thriller with some standout scenes in the second hour. The major advantage is Karthik Aaryan's masterful makeover and fantastic depiction of Freddy, however, the problem is the predictable plot and hackneyed writing. You should watch this movie and understand how much mental health is important. It briefly discusses topics like mental health, childhood trauma, and its effects on an individual when these topics merited a further look.
